14 lbs Sphynx cat who couldn’t clean herself and was dumped at city shelter gets adopted, beginning her weight loss journey to lose half her body weight, new pawrent says: ‘I can't believe how neglected she was.... I'm very glad I brought her home’

Cats are given up on or all kinds of reasons, but this cat was dumped over its weight, an offence which our protagonist could not let slide. And so they adopted her and set off on a healing journey to good health.

It is truly astonishing the amount of people who are unfit to be feline pawrents. So many so-called cat lovers are all too willing to give up on their cat children the moment that they become an inconvenience. Totally ignoring the fact that they are meant to be a part of life, and just like when grandma starts spurting slurs due to being senile, you keep on loving, keep on supporting, and keep on seeing the good, no matter what.

But that is not the way that things went for this chonky catto who was luckily adopted by a true cat lover who devoted themselves to rehabilitating this silly sausage. Ultimately improving her quality of life and sparking a whole lot of love and adoration for their determination. This story serves as a stark reminder to everyone who might think to give up on their pet when things get tough. Your pet would not give up on you at the first sign of trouble, so you owe them at least that little bit of mutual respect.

  • This is infuriating. While there are situations where people simply cannot handle the care that their cat needs and legitimately need to hand them over to someone who can, many of these hand overs are unnecessary. They happen because people feel even the slightest bit inconvenienced by their cat which is simply inexcusable. Your cat is a part of your family, and when a family member needs help at a level at which you are capable of helping it is your duty to help them. Not give up on them at the first sign of trouble.

  • Well, that is certainly an interesting and encouraging turn of events. We cannot say that we have ever heard of a cat wagging its tail like a dog, but if it means the cat is happy then who are we to judge? As for the names, well, we cannot say that we do not love the idea of calling such a cat big bertha, but at the same time it is a little diminishing considering that this poor catto is trying to lose the weight and once it returns to a healthy weight it would not make much sense to keep calling her big now would it?

    My vet and the team of techs were in love with her. They couldn't agree on what breed she is or isn't, maybe a mix. Who knows. But her fur sheds constantly and she has less of it now and the spots left are not as dense
